Excuse #1 : "I've never lost a sale because I don't accept Discover Card."

  • Many Discover Cardmembers look for a Discover Card decal. If they don't see the Discover Card option, they often do not ask.
  • There are over 48 million Discover Cardmembers 1. Wouldn't it be nice to open your doors to so many customers?

Excuse #2 :"How will accepting Discover Card affect my bookkeeping?"

  • Discover provides a monthly statement which will allow you to reconcile all Discover transactions.
  • Discover will assess your discount fees at the end of each month rather than subtract the fees from each batch. This makes reconciliation easier.

Excuse #3 :"How will I get my money?"

  • Discover sends funds, via the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network, to merchants within 24 hours of receiving their electronic sales information.
  • Discover sends funds within 2 business days of electronic sales information.

Excuse #4 :"The discount rate is too high."

  • The Discover discount rate is competitive with Visa® and MasterCard® and almost always lower than American Express®.
  • Discover fees are very competitive when the total cost of acceptation of Discover Card is compared to the total cost of acceptation of other cards. This is because Discover does not change many types of recurring fees assessed by other cards, including minimum fees and statement fees.
